Great illustrator: Ruslan Khasanov

I teach graphic design. I’ve been doing so for the past 6 years. One of the classes I teach is Illustrator. Every time I teach that class in either basics, intermediate or advanced I like to point out one excellent designer and illustrator, Ruslan Khasanov. The following illustrations are all done with gradient mesh, a tool that allows the artist to create very smooth and seamless transitions. It is a difficult technique that i have not mastered in any way, shape or form.

Native of Yekaterinburg, Russia, Ruslan loves to work in illustrator and experiment with how far he can take vector art, as well as photography.

I invite you to check out his website and be inspired.

What happens after we die? In memeory of my dad, 1941-2012

Death is not the end. Death is really a beginning—another step forward in Heavenly Father’s plan for His children. Someday, like everyone else, your physical body will die. But your spirit does not die, it goes to the spirit world, where you will continue to learn and progress and may be with loved ones who have passed on.

Death is a necessary step in your progression, just as your birth was. Sometime after your death, your spirit and your body will be reunited—never to be separated again. This is called resurrection, and it was made possible by the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ (see 1 Corinthians 15:20-22).

I love my dad. I always will. every guy I liked when I was single was compared to him. Such high bar. My dad lived his life with a ferocious cling to happiness and the well being of his family.

i know that we will see each other again. I believe that families can be together forever. I believe that he will be very busy up in heaven. Many people to see and meet.

Te quiero much papito!!! Nos vemos.

Travel: have you heard about

OMG, while reading my family Fun magazine I came across the most amazing article about a dreamlike place on the web called This website is AMAZING!!! it is made for those of us who love to travel and who love to get a little closer to the actual people that live in that country or area that we are visiting.

People, around the world, rent their homes for vacationers like myself. I can go to Rome, for example, and choose from a plethora of local homes or rooms around the area I wish to be by.

I’m so excited about this site. We are planning on doing a little Euro trip in 2014 and I have been stressing out a bit about money… 😛 hotels can be so expensive. BUT, thanks to this website, we can actually stay in the heart of Rome, in an actual house,  for $81 a night, if we wanted. you can choose a house for more than that obviously, but the possibilities are almost endless. It’s so cool!

Great Story: Music for children and a teacher

Mr. Sollecito was selected by Yahoo’s Ultimate Surprise to give him a music room at Howard Wood Elementary School.

Due to budget cuts in schools, through out the country, music and art programs have been almost eliminated. Many teachers have been left without work. Mr. Sollecito is one of those teachers who has a passion for music and is determined to teach it no matter what. He was forced to use strange places throughout the school in order to teach music once a week. The cafeteria or any other space available at the time. Ultimate Surprise brought in John Rzeznik, from the Goo Goo Dolls, to play his guitar and inspire children about music. He said “Music will always be there for you. It will always be your friend”.

Yes, this was a show but, the reality is that these children will be exposed to music in a great classroom. I wish more children could experience art and music for free at their local schools.

Back in March, The Die Line posted a Coca Cola tribute to fashion post. There it explains that “As the part of its “Tribute to Fashion” charity project, Coca Cola asked some of the best Italian designers to put their stamp on its limited edition bottle, including Moschino, Donatella Versace, Angela Missoni, Alberto Ferreti, Consuelo Castiglioni and Etro, who showcased their creations at the Milano Fashion Centre.”

Chile, a country with heart and surprises

I am from Chile. I was born and raised there until 1993, which is when I moved to the USA. I have only had the chance to go back and visit once since then. But, when I went, I felt that my country was really a beautiful place. The people are really warm and love foreigners. The north of Chile has the driest desert in the world, El desierto the Atacama; The Pacific ocean bathes its beaches; Down south is filed with lakes, rivers and volcanos; And the very south has penguins. Chile owns an area of Antarctica.

If you ever have the chance to go somewhere in South America, think of Chile. There is lots to do and see. If you are into sports, then Chile has something for you too.

So go, visit Chile, tell them Belle sent you.

A traditional “CURANTO”. A hole is dug up and filled with hot rocks. Then a plethora of shellfish and meats are placed inside to be steamed by the heat and natural juices of the food. it is so flipping good!!!

Las Vegas Restaurant: FIREFLY, Tapas Kitchen Bar

Firefly Tapas kitchen bar Restaurant is one of my favorite places to go in Las Vegas. It is very fun food and lively company. Their main dishes are tapas both hot and cold. Their ambiance is always very chic in a European-bohemian way. Their walls are covered with art and folk-like decorations. At night it can get pretty loud, but even then, the energy of the place can hardly be compared to any other restaurant in town.

I highly recommend their Artichoke toasts [hearts, aioli, basil, pepper], Stuffed dates [bacon-wrapped, smoked almond, red wine reduction, blue cheese],Tierra y Mar skewers [grilled shrimp, filet mignon, chorizo sausage, salsa verde] and their Passion Fruit Mini-cheesecakes. My favorite is Tierra y Mar…. oh, se me hace agua la boca. I don’t drink, but apparently their sangria is to die for.

So, next time you come to town give this place a try

I give it ♥♥♥♥♥ 5/5 hearts
